Dear Friends of CATER,

Thanks for your interest in CATER – Center for Advanced Turbomachinery and Energy Research – at the University of Central Florida.

Not only is the entire power generation industry undergoing transformational changes, but similar changes are also occurring in aviation and space systems – the other areas of interest to us. In response, we have undertaken tasks to reorganize and streamline CATER so that it is more agile and responsive to these changes and to the important societal needs of the 21st century that fall within CATER’s scope. Our goal has always been to provide the best research experience for our students and partners, and hands-on training/experience to our students on practical topics that affect everyone.

This website will be undergoing changes over the next 6 months as we will implement several forward-looking changes within CATER. Please stay tuned and visit us again soon! I will leave for now with three quotes that elegantly describe CATER’s core values.

Sincerely,
Jay Kapat

Quotes to think about:

“Education is not the learning of facts. It’s rather the training of the mind to think.”
— Albert Einstein

“The value of an idea lies in the using of it.”
— Thomas Edison

“You cannot get educated by this self-propagating system in which people study to pass exams, and teach other to pass exams, but nobody knows anything. … You learn something by doing it yourself, by asking questions, by thinking, and by experimenting.”
— Richard Feynman

Welcome to CATER
Center for Advanced Turbine and Energy Research

A Center for Research & Student Training Focused on Turbomachineriesand Associated Technologies for Power Generation, Aviationand Space Propulsion
